Capstone Project Overview

The Capstone Course at Rice University’s Jones Graduate School of Business brings together teams of Rice MBAs to develop recommendations that help community organizations solve critical strategic challenges, such as major growth or expansion plans, organization turnaround strategies, and new ventures by the organization in need of a business plan.

The Capstone Project addresses the following strategic challenges:

  • Growth and Expansion

  • Donor Relations

  • New Product Development

  • Opening New Markets

  • Exits for Founder or Senior Executives

  • Provides a detailed, actionable recommendation at the strategic and tactical levels

  • Taps both student and Rice-JGSB faculty expertise to develop the recommendations

  • Approaches your strategic challenges with fresh, yet experienced perspectives

  • Exposes your organization to the capabilities of talented MBA professionals

  • Builds your company’s long-term relationship with Rice University and the JGSB

Benefits of Participation

  • Size: ~$250K - $10M annual budget
    (For-profit organizations: minimum $1M annual revenue)

  • No initial start-ups; must have been active for at least 1 year

  • Variety of causes (e.g., education, social services, etc.)

  • No political parties or individual churches.

  • U.S. entities. Can/may opportunistically include global entities for MBA@Rice Capstone
